Free SEO Report Template
This is a free monthly SEO reporting template in Google Sheets. It has seven tabs — executive summary, organic traffic, keyword rankings, technical SEO, backlinks, content, and action items — laid out in the order a client actually reads them: the summary first, the evidence behind it next, and the work you're proposing last. Make a copy and it's yours to edit and rebrand.

What's in the template
7 tabs, ordered the way a client reads them.
Executive Summary
The one tab most clients read. Headline numbers, what moved this month, and what you're doing about it — so the detail behind it is optional rather than mandatory.
Organic Traffic
Sessions, users and conversions month over month, with space for the year-on-year comparison that stops a seasonal dip being read as a failure.
Keyword Rankings
Tracked keywords with current position, change since last month, and search volume — plus room to flag the near-misses sitting on page two.
Technical SEO
Crawl and indexation health: broken links, redirect chains, page speed, mobile issues. The problems that quietly cap everything else.
Backlinks
New and lost referring domains, authority movement, and a place to record the outreach that earned them.
Content
What published this month, how existing pages are performing, and which pages are losing ground and need a refresh.
Action Items
Next month's work with owners and priorities. This is the tab that turns a report into an approved scope.
Who it's for
Marketing and SEO agencies reporting to clients each month, and freelancers who need something client-ready without building it from scratch.
The version that fills itself in
This template is the manual version. DidYouSEO runs the audit, tracks the rankings, and builds the report from live data — plus AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, which you can't pull from Search Console at all.
Frequently asked questions
Is this SEO report template really free?
Yes. Enter your email and you get the Google Sheets copy link. There's no payment step and no trial attached to it.
Can I edit it and put my own branding on it?
Yes. Clicking the link creates a copy in your own Google Drive that you fully own. Change the colours, add your logo, delete tabs you don't use — it's your file, and nothing you do affects the original.
Does it work in Excel?
Yes. Open the Google Sheets copy and use File → Download → Microsoft Excel, or grab the .xlsx version directly when it's available.
Does the template fill itself in automatically?
No — it's a spreadsheet, so you enter the numbers yourself or paste them from Search Console, GA4 and your rank tracker. If you'd rather not do that every month, DidYouSEO generates the same reporting from live data.
What should go in the executive summary?
Three things: the headline numbers versus last month, the single biggest change and why it happened, and what you're doing next. Most clients read only this tab, so write it last, once the other tabs tell you the story.
