Connect DidYouSEO to VS Code

VS Code's agent mode can call MCP servers. Add DidYouSEO and Copilot Chat can audit your pages and apply the fixes in your workspace.

You need: VS Code with GitHub Copilot and agent mode. Audits and Search Console tools need a free DidYouSEO account.

Setup

Server URL

https://didyouseo.com/mcp
  1. 1

    Add the server

    Create .vscode/mcp.json in your project with the config below, or run MCP: Add Server from the command palette and choose HTTP.

  2. 2

    Start and sign in

    Click Start above the server entry. VS Code asks you to sign in to DidYouSEO; approve access.

  3. 3

    Use it

    Open Copilot Chat in agent mode and ask it to audit a page with DidYouSEO.

.vscode/mcp.json

{
  "servers": {
    "didyouseo": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://didyouseo.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Menu names change from time to time. If a step doesn't match what you see, check VS Code MCP documentation.

What to ask VS Code

Search Console prompts need Search Console connected in your DidYouSEO account.

“Audit https://example.com/pricing and list the top 3 fixes.”
“Which of my pages lost the most Google clicks this month?”
“Find queries where I rank 8-20 and tell me what to change.”
“Check the structured data on https://example.com and fix the errors.”
