Query Search Console from your AI assistant

Connect Google Search Console to DidYouSEO once, then ask Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor for your real search data - top queries, clicks, impressions, and average position - right in the chat, over MCP. It's free and takes a few minutes.

What you'll need:a free DidYouSEO account, a verified Google Search Console property for your site, and an MCP-capable assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor). Reading your GSC data this way costs nothing - it uses Google's API through your own connected account.

1Connect Google Search Console to DidYouSEO

Sign in to DidYouSEO and open Integrations in your dashboard. Click Connect Google Search Console and approve the Google sign-in. This links your Search Console to your DidYouSEO account so the connection can be reused - you only do it once.

Use the Google account that owns (or has access to) the verified Search Console property for the site you want to analyze.

2Connect the DidYouSEO MCP server to your assistant

In your assistant, add a custom connector pointing at the DidYouSEO MCP server and sign in with the same DidYouSEO account:

https://didyouseo.com/mcp

In Claude that's Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. The full walkthrough, including ChatGPT and Cursor, is in how to connect DidYouSEO to Claude and the API & MCP docs.

3Ask for your Search Console data

Start a new chat and ask in plain language. The assistant calls the get_search_console_keywords tool and reads the results:

Using DidYouSEO, show me my top Search Console queries for
https://example.com over the last 90 days - clicks, impressions,
CTR, and average position.

From there you can keep going in the same conversation: ask it to find your quick-win keywords, pages losing clicks, or content ideas. See the use cases and prompt ideas for the prompts worth saving.

Troubleshooting

  • "No Search Console connection found." The DidYouSEO account your assistant signed into hasn't connected GSC. Connect it in the dashboard (Integrations), using the same account.
  • "No property matches this site." GSC is connected, but that site isn't a verified property in the connected account. Verify it in Search Console, then use the exact domain.
  • Empty results. Search Console data lags ~3 days, and brand-new or very low-traffic sites may simply have no query data yet for the window you asked about.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a paid plan to use Search Console over MCP?

No. Connecting Google Search Console and reading your query data through the DidYouSEO MCP server is free - it uses Google's own API through your connected Google account, so there's no per-use cost and no plan gate.

Why do I connect Search Console in the dashboard instead of in Claude?

Connecting GSC requires a Google sign-in (OAuth) that has to happen in a browser, which the DidYouSEO dashboard handles once. After that, the MCP server reuses that connection for your account, so your AI assistant can read the data without any Google sign-in of its own.

The assistant says no Search Console connection was found. Why?

The DidYouSEO account you signed into from your assistant isn't the one that connected Search Console, or GSC was never connected. Sign in to the DidYouSEO dashboard, connect Google Search Console under Integrations, and make sure it's the same account your assistant uses.

It says no property matches my site. What's wrong?

Your Search Console is connected, but the site URL you asked about isn't a verified property in that account. Verify the site in Google Search Console first, then use the exact domain (for example https://example.com) when you ask your assistant.

Which assistants can read my Search Console data this way?

Any MCP-capable client - Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor among them. They all connect to the same DidYouSEO MCP server; only the location of the 'add connector' setting differs between them.
