How does this plagiarism checker work?
It splits your text into distinct sentences and searches Google for exact matches of each one, in quotes. If a sentence turns up on another live, indexed page, it's flagged as a match with a link to the source.
What won't it catch?
Only exact-text matches on pages Google has indexed. Paraphrased or reworded copying, text behind a login, and very recently published pages that haven't been crawled yet won't show up as matches.
How many sentences does it check?
Up to 12 per submission — the longest, most distinctive sentences in your text, since short common phrases ("in this article") produce noisy false-positive matches and aren't useful signal anyway.
Is there a limit on how many checks I can run?
Yes — 3 free checks per hour. Each check runs several live web searches behind the scenes, so this is capped tighter than our other free tools.
What's a good originality score?
100% means none of the checked sentences had an exact match elsewhere online. A lower score doesn't automatically mean plagiarism — common phrasing, quoted material, or boilerplate (like standard legal text) can also trigger a match.
